Making airwaves

Last Wednesday I was interviewed and accepted for a radio producer post with Whistling Frog Productions in Bradford, a UK-based ministry of HCJB Global, which has media and healthcare ministries around the world. Exciting news, so I look forward to moving to Bradford (yes, I know that sounds odd to some!), hopefully in a few weeks' time.
Meanwhile, I need to start building up a prayer and financial support base - in common with a number of Christian ministries, the post itself is not salaried - as well as start investigating part-time work opportunities down there, and in other practical ways get ready to go.
More soon...

Bradford? Better pack the noseplugs.

Seriously, though, congratulations! I admire your confidence as well, don't know if I would take an unsalaried job. Can you listen to this station on the internet?

What? You don’t get paid?

You should have a word with your boss – this is not right.

Where does all the money go when people pay into the collection box?

I know it sounds weird if you're not familiar with this kind of arrangement. But it does fit well with a wider model and ethos of Christian giving.
And it's not a station itself; programmes will be made for several different stations. LBC 97.3 in London, Pulse Gold, The Pulse, Home FM, Sovereign Radio and Central FM have played material before.
Thanks for your interest, I'll keep you posted!

LOL. Good question. You should speak to the church treasurer...who incidentally is also not paid :)

Well done Bruce on getting the job, I think you'll be very happy doing that. You going to Jo K's ceilidh tonight at Re: hope? There's a good band playing :)

I'll be at the ceilidh Beat. Can't think who that band might be...:)

And what type of car does s/he drive? If it is a BMW 7 series, methinks there is something wrong. I would be "sure" then that the money goes to "good causes"...

Seriously though, why do they need to pass the collection plate around 3 or 4 times in a service?

It's embarrassing… I’ve got to be careful that I don’t drop in any gold coins by mistake.

Gold coins?

I now have a mental image of Lee with a wallet full of Spanish doubloons.

I don’t mind losing the “silver” coins, but the “gold” ones are mine captain.

I'm busy on probably my final script for GRF radio (a programme producing outfit, not station - progs are put on an online resource from which stations can download them) in Glasgow, to record tonight: a news 24 style treatment of the resurrection narrative. Great fun. Not unlike the '24' take we did on the Christmas narratives end of 2007. Just to let you know I'm not just twiddling my thumbs.
